Leaving NZ and getting to Oahu, Hawai'i.

Well peoples we had to reluctantly leave NZ, flying from Auckland on our lastest visa day.
We fly across Cook Strait in little plane to Wellington and there have long wait, so go in to city for last look round.
We goes up cable car and take nice walk back through Botanic Gardens down the hill.
At airport we finds Gollum. He scary man!

From Wellington we fly to Auckland where we spends night in airport before flight to Sydney.
Then from Sydney we has 10 hour flight to island of Oahu, Hawai'i, in USA.
It very funny, we leave at 6pm and arrive 7am same day! We has two Fridays!
And of course we has new currency, US Dollars, to get used to.
Oahu and Waikiki beach are beautiful and we are back to summer, hot weather.
Funny thing, the Hawai'i State flag contains Union Jack.
Oahu has Pearl Harbour where Japanese bombed to bring USA into WW II.
It is very touching place, especially the USS Arizona Memorial, which is over the wreck. Oil still seeps from the wreck each day, which is emotive.
There is big plaque with the names of the over 1000 crew her were killed on that one ship. Their bodies still in the body of the ship.
Also many survivors have had their ashes scattered on the ship when they died since.

The hostel they do some good, cheap tours, so we book to explore North Shore. We go to lots of nice beaches and one with sea turtles on it, and end day with lovely Hawai'ian sunset.
CCL also, as he does, found dive company. He say they great and he go on two dives.
The first on the wreck of a Corsair WW II war plane, complete with tail fin, wings (one broken off), propellor and landing gear.
Second was to Fantasy Reef and he see over dozen Giant Green sea turtles and biggggggggg moray eelses.

So for final day idiot man, on hottest day so far decide to walk two miles to bottom of Diamond Head volcano crater and then, idiot!! he climb to top to see views and old gun pillboxes.
Me is protesting and insist on being carried.
On way back to Waikiki we see something more of Bogdan's style. Soft top VW Beetle, complete with surfboards.

And so we is now off to Big Island, staying in Hilo, to see live volcano. Buffoon better have no ideas about taking me too near hot lavas
