It was also about states' rights. (and then whispers: *which, of course, was echoed in the larger debate re: slavery *and* vice-versa - as well as the rights of the Territories, which were not states at that time...it's a never ending circle of what it was really about - still- today-it's a complex issue re: the Civil War) Bogdan, did you hear nothing while you were in that pocket? ;^)

It's (still) called by the Southern states - still-today- it was the "War of Northern Agression." And they still haven't forgiven the North 153 years later. And the Southern states are STILL rather annoying about chirping ever onward about "states' rights." Hmm... I seem to have written a lot of "stills" in those two paragraphs. Sorry...

Wow, we hear so much of American history and yet we hardly know any of it at all. That has opened quite a lot of it up for me, at least. I really do want to do a tour of the States - there is so much over there I have to see.
