Dublin's fair city.

We take the overnight flight from NYC to Dublin and arrive to be greeted by sunshine, although it not last.
We are back in Europe!
First thing oaf do is go for Guinness. Pssssh!

At hostel we see sign for free walking tour of Dublin, lasting over 3 hours.
Has to be worth a try, and it was fantastic.
Guide was girl who had just qualified as Barrister. She seem very clever just to serve coffee. CCL say not that kind of Barista. What do he know!
Aisling give us great insight into Irish history and make fun of CCL as only Brit in the crowd and tell how Irish rebellions come about.
We also visit Dublin Castle, Trinity College, where Pope once say it was blasphemous to attend as it was Protestant University, we see Book of Kells, magical.
We go to see Parliament building also and take long zig zaggy walk through streets with Aisling telling us great stories.
She say though British try to kill Gaelic language it never happen until Irish kill it themselves. This was at time of potato famine and parents feel children need English if they are to leave the country and settle elsewhere, and so something British couldn't do in over 100 years is achieved within 10.
She also tell us that last 'laundry' (workhouse) for women, who could be sent there by priests for 'crimes' like, being too pretty or flighty, only shut in 1990. Ridiculous!
Of course, half way through walk there is a break for...........Guinness!

Of course on next day guess where loon wish to go........yes, of course, Guinness Storehouse and museum. Although me quite enjoy visit as well.
It fascinating to see original 9000 year lease. Yes NINE THOUSAND years! See the old Guinness ships and trains used to transport Guinness all over the world.
They also have section on advertising through the decades, both print and posters, and TV.
Oaf is so old he remember most of them.
Then we get to go to bar at very top of building where we get FREE Guinness and fabulous views of the city.

Our final day dawned with glorious sunshine, so we take the bus out of Dublin to Howth Summit, to walk the Fingal Way coast path along the cliffs and in to Howth harbour.
Rugged and beautiful, with amazing colours of heather. It remind CCL of walking the coast path in Cornwall.

And so tomorrow we take our final flight, on yet another airline, Ryanair, and return to the UK and the land of the pound. But we will have a few stops on the way back to Cornwall.
