Ahem.
I suggest that those of you not in possession of a working radio, computer, television, or subscription to the local newspaper these last few days pay excellent attention to that of which I am about to speak.
There have been at least five murders of note in the City as of late; I say 'at least' as there may well be more which are currently undiscovered, the most recent having been dead for some days but only found this afternoon. Thus far, I have been unable to determine a pattern regarding their deaths other than the manner in which they were killed. No arrests have yet been made, unfortunately, and nor am I guaranteed to have a position in the trial should one occur, which means that I am currently unable to fulfill my duties as prosecutor.
As a citizen, however, I can and very much am responsible for making the population aware of the current danger.
The attackers have so far struck twice in Brooklyn, once in Queens, and twice again in the Bronx. While I can not say for certain that they will move to another borough--or worse yet, cross the state borders--I would also be lying if I told you I knew that they would not do so. There is little else I can tell you as to what you should watch for, as the evidence compiled up to this point suggests they are committing these murders in what you might generally call a 'random fashion'.
I simply suggest, then, that you keep your wits about you at all times until further notice, and very much recommend that you all look into various forms of self-defense as you feel are most suited to you, barring excessive violence. I also recommend that you do not go looking for trouble. The meticulous nature of the crime scenes--barring the state of the victims themselves--suggests high levels of intelligence, as well as an understanding of standard criminal procedure and methods by which they may avoid detection or outright capture. If that is true, then they will no doubt be capable of expecting and out-thinking the majority of this community's retaliatory actions, making any such efforts foolhardy at best.
In closing, mind yourselves and your surroundings. I would be most distressed to discover that anyone here has fallen prey to these depraved fiends.
I shall now return to my personal investigations of the matters at hand. That will be all.
