I think that Darkrai went home. I can't find him anywhere and he's not answering or anything. I thought his friends should know.

[There's a long stretch of silence.]

If anyone want-[He starts, stops himself, and sighs. After a few more seconds of silence he shuts off the comm.]

I can't help wondering how you were going to finish that thought.

It was really nothing important. I was just thinking out loud.

Slips of the tongue are rarely insignificant, in my experience.

It is insignificant. I was going to ask if anyone wanted to do something so I wouldn't be by myself today. That's not important.

There's nothing insignificant about feeling a little lonely. You just lost a friend, I think it's only fair for you to hope to fall back on the remaining ones.

[Sounding unsure] Other people have things to do too. I don't want to be selfish or needy.

I think sometimes we deserve to be selfish when it comes to our own well-being. We all need a little help sometimes, it's nothing to be ashamed of.

Maybe. But it's still weird.

It can feel weird, but the situation's a pretty normal one.

Maybe it is here. But it shouldn't be.

The specifics, sure. But feeling lonely and needing a little support because you lost a friend of yours? That's just part of the human condition, it's a perfectly valid response.

[Is that bitterness in his voice?] Sometimes we're taught to believe it's not.

That's because we're taught wrong, by people who devalue because they don't understand.

It's not always their fault that they don't understand. Sometimes they think they're doing what's best.

When they think they what's best for you better than you, when that lack of understanding actually causes harm?

I'm sorry, but all the good intentions in the world can't absolve that.

They didn't know. They were trying to do what was best for everyone. Sometimes that means that some people don't get all that they want so that others can be okay.[Defensively and not totally talking in context of just this conversation.]

Good intentions have to count for something.
