Agenda 003 [video]

[ Alex is standing in the middle of the mayor's office, wearing a short-sleeved shirt with a black tie and slacks. He didn't have the foresight to bring a proper suit to work today, or a least that's the impression he's trying to give. You can't see the bags under his eyes, and he's doing his best to look authoritative instead of tired, and the ( Read more... )

I can help within the offices, if you would like.

Yeah, we definitely maintain more than a staff of one usually. I think I could probably use that.

I will be there shortly.

Great. I'm not going anywhere, so I'll be here.

[ Move to action? ]

AND ACTION disillusionists May 8 2011, 06:14:42 UTC
Ok.

[ AND ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES LATER there will be a small, blonde, thirteen year-old girl dressed in some prim lolita shit going on, walking around before... finding the mayor's office and... openin' dat door.

PEERIN IN but all sophisticatedly and whatnot. ]

Ah.

[ He glances up from the desk, which has still not been cleaned since Mitch ran off. He would have to get to that later. He crosses to the front of the desk and offers his hand, hoping this was some appointment he'd made earlier instead of someone just wondering in, feeling stupid for never getting her name before. ]

I'm Alex, can I help you?

Hi.

[ smiles that delicate smile of hers and takes his hand, if only for a moment before she's immediately looking around, hands folded before her ]

My name is Rose. We spoke over the Network. You wanted help, yes?

The one asking about magic the other day, right? Let's see if we can't get you set up, then.

[ He leads her out where they can find an office all for her own. How about a Deputy Mayor's office? ]

Yes, that was me.

[ OOH follows after and she likes dis. that smile grows and it's rather... well. there's a flicker of deviousness but it's only for a moment because SHE'S A CUTE LITTLE GIRL ALL DRESSED IN PINK FRILLS AND WHATNOT how can she be naughty ]

You're handling this rather well.

Well, I'm not exactly a slouch when it comes to coordinating people. It's what I do. Plus, I figure it couldn't hurt if we take this opportunity to show the City what its kids are capable of.

[ He's also bravefacing. This has been a lot harder than he could've ever guessed, even after someone shared a vision with him of how hard it would be.

He takes a peek in the Deputy Mayor's office and immediately feels jealous for how little of a mess it has. He'll have to do something about that in his tomorrow. ]

So, I figure we can get you set up in here. Basically what you'd be doing is picking up the slack, handling some of these phonecalls, settling simple disputes, pretty much plugging into the chain of command.

Not a secretary, since I'll be doing the same thing, though I'll have a few of the phonelines routed into this office. Any big issues'll need to be brought to me so we can talk them through ( ... )

Ah, of course.

[ just that comment along with an almost knowing smile. she did think kids could do something -- after all, she's saving an entire universe in her world, but... heh. this certainly isn't quite the way to do it.

she'll enter the Deputy Mayor's office after a moment, glancing around. she'll have to fix this place up to be more to her taste. messier. ]

I do like the idea of second-in-command. I'm flattered that you're offering me this position. [ another smile, even though her gaze is turned away the entire time ] I believe I can handle this without a problem, Alex. To quote, you can count on me.

Well, I don't have a lot of other people offering, so I might as well make the best use of the help I've got. You seem smart enough for the job, or at least aloof enough to give off that impression. Guess we'll figure out which soon enough.

Mmmn.

[ an agreeing noise and then a pause ]

Do you still have no idea how this happened?

I've been too busy running damage control to even think about that at this point.

[ He knew Nygma wasn't anywhere in earshot, but just knowing he's out there, and probably others like him, Alex has been practicing the delicate art of truth-by-technicality lately. ]
