[The young man who shows up onscreen is a bit older than the one pictured -- about 12, but still just slightly chubby, and looking thoroughly discontented.]

What the heck is going on here? This isn't my house. ...Isn't my lab, either, though it does have all kinds of cool stuff in it. Whoever designed some of that stuff, I like them already ( Read more... )

[ Oh look it's a six year old boy! Wearing glasses. And a button down shirt. And a sweatervest. Getting started on the whole "nerd" thing pretty young, basically. ]

Hi, Ted!

Is Chicago in Illinois? My friend Hank is from Illinois!

Uh, hi?

Yeah, it is. Up in the northeast part.

Hank says he lives on a farm. So I guess he must not live near you, because Chicago's a big city.

Prob'ly not. There are some farms there, but, um, not a lot in the Chicago area.

[ A little disappointed. ]

Oh. I guess you probably wouldn't know each other even if Hank did live in Chicago. I don't know every other kid in Queens.

You're twice as old as I am!

[ Contemplates living TWICE AS LONG as he has already. This seems impossible. ]

The nearest settlement to our farm is Dunfee! It's to the northwest of Chicago.

[It's also one of Marvel's few examples of a made-up city. I just headcanon that it's in the same place Dundee, IL would be.]

[Ted just blinks a little, bemused, and nods.] Okay then. ...I still haven't heard of it, but, uh, I don't go out of the city much.

I've only paid visit to the big city once, though. We escalated the Sears Tower!

It's not that exciting. I guess it might be different if you didn't grow up here.

[A little perk.] Yeah? Was it cool? My dad's company's near there.

We took an elevator all the way to the aperture and got to look down on the whole city!

I wanted to inspect further, but my mom wouldn't allow me. She said it was too dangerous.

That sounds awesome! My dad wouldn't let me do that.

Mine would've probably said the same thing.

Why wouldn't he? Isn't that the reasoning behind making Sears Tower so gargantuan to begin with?
It simply must be seen from the very top!
