ooc: red is tony, pink is nathan!

[Cameras are popping out all over, and there's some murmurs among the crowd - a good many of them being 'Who's that guy with Stark?'- but dozens of reporters, journalists, bloggers, and various hanger ons are gathered together in one big press conference room, where Nathan and Tony are seated next to each other. You have got to be freaking kidding me.

I wouldn't be kidding about how nice that butt looks in those tight clothes, and I'm not kidding now. [Casual as HALE]

I assume you have the same worries as Carol, Spider-Man?

Uh ... thhhhhank you? [He wouldn't have said that but he was a little thrown by the casualness.]

It's just -- okay, look, we super-types need to make a living, same as everyone else, and sure, it'd be nice to get some good publicity once in a while. But a reality TV show? Saving lives isn't a spectacle. It's just --

[He's really flailing, here. Gut-level beliefs are hard for him to articulate.]

It's just not right, is all.

You're very welcome!

A spectacle. I may have a flair for the glamorous, but I can assure you, this will be no circus.

Starktech might be sponsoring, but I have full control of this project.

That's not ... look, you seem like a decent enough guy and all, and I guess you have a character reference, but I don't really know you, do I. And Tony ... has his heart in the right place ... [SO GRUDGING.] ... but he's been known to lose track of the moral bottom line before.

I am fully willing to share with you the documents, outlines, and rules concerning how Hero TV is to be run, what is required of heroes - particularly the training and tests, I notice heroes here don't have to be approved by the Justice Department, and that's a little worrying if you ask me - and so on.

You may not know me now, but I'm willing to get to know you, Spider-Man! I cannot win your confidence by just telling you it's all under control, can I?

Not hardly.

[A thoughtful pause, then he continues.] But okay, if you're willing to let a total -- well, near-total, counting Tony I guess -- stranger take a look, I guess I can only return the favor and keep an open mind.

As I've said - doing the right thing is just as important to me as good business! I like to do good while building a business. Otherwise, what's the point? Money? The excitement to that is limited.

So! I absolutely should show heroes themselves how this show is going to work. To hide in the fine print would be low, don't you think?

Perhaps we could make a lunch of it, Spider-Man? Or might I call you something else... just Spider? Like a first name...

[Of all the nicknames Nathan could've seized on...]

Uh, lunch? Yeah, that's ... that sounds good ...

Ahem. Spidey works fine. Or webhead. Webs, even. I've even gone by Arachknight, though I couldn't have told you what anyone of us were thinking at the time. Probably some kind of near death experience or something.

Arachknight? Did you wear a knight costume, too?

But yes! Spidey then. Let me look through my schedule to see when I have some time free, and I'll have all the documents ready for you to look through.

Nah, it was kind of a silly injoke. You know how it goes.

I can go with that. [Pause.] I appreciate you taking the time out.

Dismissing your concerns wouldn't be painting me or the show in a good light, would it? I'd rather prove myself than just say everything's in good hands.

[He snorts.] Well, that's one thing you've got on your partner at least.

Mm. [He'll have to ask Tony what's the deal between him and Spider-Man later. And maybe take it with a grain of salt.]

Here we go. A wonderful little French restaurant. I've cleared out any little spots I can make in my schedule next week... pick a day and time that works for you, and I'll make reservations!

[Oh god, French food. Man up, Parker, you can do this.]

I'm honestly pretty flexible... it's sort of a job requirement.
