I have no idea. Managing a branch and a group of people is practically impossible, did you know that people actually stop liking you that much when you get promoted over them? [ Nervous laughter. ] Because they don't.

Given the kind of relationships I've had with various bosses over the years, yeah, I guess I could see that.

It changes your position in the power structure, complicates how they relate to you in some ways.

No way. Everyone loved Michael. And the other guys were only managers for like, five minutes. Or more qualified. I know at least a couple of people who think they were skipped over.
