The City can be a very distressing place to live sometimes. Between the monster attacks and the acts of terrorism and the other unnatural disasters, sometimes I can't help but wonder how we even manage to survive it, or why we even bother to stay.

Oh dear, I've been so preoccupied between preparing costumes, evacuations, the events of the thirty-first, reversing the evacuations, and relocation that the project entirely slipped my mind!

I deeply apologize, Mrs. Maximoff, I'll make my best attempt at beginning work on it immediately!

Well, yes. That only further complicates matters, I'm afraid.

If you need to talk about it ever, I'm always willing to listen. But until then, I'll be looking forward to your artistic tribute to your mother.

Well, it isn't uncomfortable so much as it's confusing, particularly given that I did not pay witness to the process personally! Karkat would be far more familiar with the incident, but he's not terribly forthcoming in regards to the topic.

You're getting your reproductive information from Karkat?! [That sounds like a terrible idea.]

Not entirely! The genuine reproductive processes I've learned myself, as it was to be involved with my duties had matters not soured. It's the ectobiological process which Karkat would be more fully aware of, as he was the one needed to enact it.

That's good, anyway. Educating yourself, I mean.

I've caught glimpses of the process as it is shaped within the human experience, though I still find it baffling that it should be so gender-dependent.

You mean trolls can mate with trolls of the same gender? To reproduce?

Well, of course! For what reason would we be incapable of it?

We can't. Humans, I mean. We can't have babies with members of the same gender.

So I've been informed. That must be terribly frustrating for you...as a collective, at the very least.

Ah, uh, yes. I think some people do find it very frustrating. Having a family with the person you love is a very important experience for some people.

I've always been curious to some degree, a negligible one I'm sure, [ aw yeah, totally threw off her trail with that one! ] of what an experience it would be. Motherhood, I mean. I am, however, uncertain of the process from the human perspective. Other apprehensions aside, your reproduction seems terribly messy, and potentially painful.

The reproduction part itself isn't painful. I mean, it isn't if you're doing it properly. But giving birth is supposed to be very painful.

Yes, that's what I intended to communicate, my apologies if I'd fallen short to any degree! The, um, gestation period, do you have any experience with it?
