Frank's Attempted Escape [For Jack and Frank] due_punishment December 20 2010, 02:01:28 UTC
With Bennett dead, the meeting ruined, and the package taken care of, it was time for Frank to leave. Finishing off a few mercs on his way out, Frank left the resort and faded into the jungle. He'd start making his way toward the next town. It might take a week, but that would be long enough for Jack to lose the trail if he tried to find him. Which he probably would. Letting a known multiple murder escape on your watch tended to attract attention. He was sure Jack would catch hell for it, but he wasn't doing time just so the man could avoid an ass chewing.

They wouldn't fire someone like that, no, too good. They'd just assign him to some menial duty for a while to feel they'd exerted their authority. Probably wouldn't be too happy the next time Frank ran into him. Would have to make sure to avoid him till he'd cooled off.

From what he'd seen of Jack so far, that might take a while.

Meanwhile, back at the resort, Jack was reclaiming his possessions from where the mercenaries had stored them after his capture. It wasn't hard to find them- they were in one of the few buildings still standing and not on fire. He was still shirtless, but at least he'd taken a few seconds to grab some shoes.

There wasn't much to reclaim, since he'd ditched the communicator at the hotel, just one very important item. When Jack found his cell phone, he immediately flipped it open, and not to check his messages.

"Son of a bitch!" As he'd feared, the tracker he'd planted on Frank that was transmitting to the phone showed him to be well on his way to disappearing. Jack's blood immediately shot up to boiling. This man was not just going to ditch them after everything they'd just done. He had not just spent a day being tortured so that he could return home and get fired on the account of Frank Castle ( ... )

Frank snapped his head around when he heard the motorcycle. Seems Jack had already noticed he was gone. He'd have to find some way of shaking him before he could continue on. Jumping off the jungle path he was on, Frank climbed a nearby tree and waited. He was going to try to make this fast so he injured Jack as little as possible.

Jack took the motorcycle into the jungle without hesitation, swerving and weaving between trees, intending to use the machine to close as much of the distance between him and Frank as possible before he was forced to abandon it. He had just come out of a raging gunfight after a torture session, and was in no mood to be chasing the man down on foot. With his concentration on avoiding crashing into trees, he never had a moment to spare for looking up.

Once Jack was close enough Frank swung down from the tree in an attempt to knock his pursuer off the bike.

"Oof!" Jack hit the ground and the bike flew on and hit a tree. Rolling with the momentum, Jack felt mud and leaves sticking to his torso. He ignored it, got up and growled at the Punisher. "You can't run, Frank. Just give it up."

Frank gave Jack a tired look. He had heard this same speech many times before from Daredevil. Even coming out of Jack's mouth it was still just as boring. Slowly Frank shook his head no, and got into a low stance, ready for the fight. He rushed toward Jack, intending to tackle him, and slam him into the ground.

Why couldn't it ever be easy?

Jack took the tackle in his midsection and stayed standing despite his feet skidding backwards a bit from the impact. Getting his arms around Frank he grunted and turned sharply, trying to use the momentum of his charge to send him into a nearby tree.

Jack had a lot more endurance than Frank had thought. Thudding into the tree, he groaned, but got back to his feet. This time he'd let Jack come to him. See if he could spot any weak spots. They had had a good while to work him over, there had to be some damage he could exploit.

Jack's exposed torso was a mass of wounds old and new, fresh burns and bruises overlapping with old scars. His abdomen had taken an especially large amount of punishment during the last beating, questions punctuated by gut punches and kicks. It still hurt- everything still hurt- but he pushed past it and came at Frank, feinting a right jab before swinging a left hook towards his temple.

Frank fell for the feint, but retaliated with with a punch towards Jack's abdomen.

Jack cried out and doubled over as Frank's fist hit a tender spot. He was unable to stop himself from grabbing at his stomach, nausea welling up inside him, another reminder of how hard he was pushing himself and of how much better shape Frank was in right now.

Frank didn't let up and he followed up with a knee aimed at Jack's chin.

Jack hit the ground facefirst, mud smearing across his face, but he wasn't going to let that stop him. Bracing with his hands he spun around, sweeping his legs at Frank's.

It was a good counter and Frank let out an ooof, as he fell flat on his back.

Jack was on top of him in an instant, tackling him and swinging a hand full of mud straight into Frank's face and eyes as he tried to pin him down.
