At high noon the minstrel claims the stage, raising a smile and a small bow to a clustering crowd of admirers - or perhaps just curious passerby. No matter though, experience tells him he has time to win them over.

He draws his lute out of the air with a little flourish, and starts with a smooth, gently-building love song. He'll save the fanfare for the second request.

You know what type of people usually don't appreciate such fine music? Goblins. Which is why there is one standing to one side of the stage, looking considerably peeved. However, he's waiting until this particular musician is done playing for he makes any moves--after all, isn't there usually gold about after these things?

Well, we can't have unhappy faces bringing down cheery noontime events. It's bad for repeat business, after all. He works the crowd a little more as he finishes the song, tugging the coin purse out of his ear while he balances on one palm.

"Come now, one more for the ladies," he says as he does a quick turn and rights himself, gesturing towards the goblin. "Call a song, odd fellow."

consensus was that damian should be a goblin/gremlin/creature. isn't it cute? xuffasch May 2 2011, 03:27:43 UTC
The purse is what catches his attention; why else would be here, after all, if not to lift a bit of gold? Still, his eyes are focused on the man himself more than anything. He grins and bears his teeth, then knocks his head to one side.

“If you insist on chirping away, do a few classics. Some ‘Green Sleeves’ or ‘Lirum Bililirum’.”

The classics he saves for the end, after he's reeled them in and has them resting in the palm of his hand. Those teeth are unsettling, and it occurs to him that he might have finally succeeded in attracting the wrong kind of attention. It's probably best to cut this one short.

"One more," he acknowledges, smiling broadly again. "Greensleeves." He starts in on the song, a little faster than he might have otherwise.

His grin only grows wider, which gives him a distinct and uncomfortable similarity to a jack-o-lantern. He's only half-listening to the song when he begins to move through the gathered crowd, gradually making his way to the other side of the stage.

A little chill runs all through him while he watches the figure start to move. He cuts the song off a verse short and finally signals to the crowd that he's finished. Better to miss an opportunity for a few extra coins now than risk a real encounter that could end worse.

He tucks his lute away and looks for a quick path to escape in the opposite direction.

He sees him begin to move, but by this point he’s too far into the crowd to change direction. He lets out a rather irritated growl, and proceeds to the stage. Once he’s there it’s a simple matter to survey the crowd, looking for the man he now deems the Cowardly Minstrel. And once spotted, it’s not to follow him.

He hops a little closer to the edge of the stage before reaching out to take the coins from the small one's hand. Being paid in advance is unusual.

"Anything you like," he says with a smile, though in actuality he's not exactly sure where the North might be. Though it never hurts to take a guess. "Perhaps a chronicle of the great war?"

Indulge the conjurer. Oh dear.

He starts the song a little slow - it's been a while since anyone's requested anything like it - but he remembers the sound and the feel well enough by the second verse. He gives her a smile and tucks the coins away as it finishes.

"Was that to your liking?"
