Her first impulse was to try to take up as much space as possible in the limo so as to make things difficult for everyone else. But that was before she saw her gift.
Now she's sitting quietly in place, clutching the bright yellow ball with the smiley face on its back. Every few moments, she shakes it and examines the message that comes up on the little window in front.]
"You're a very special person." I knew that already! This is stupid.
[Strange, though. She's shaking it again.]
"You could pull off any look you wanted." What?

[ For her own part, Kanaya was looking classy as always, sipping a glass of apple juice and reading a book.
there was a lot to sappho that hit a little close. it almost made her uncomfortable reading it in public, not that there was anything objectionable to it, merely that she was a little embarrassed at how much insight into her life it would give one to see her reading it. the aesthetic imagery, the PASSION (sometimes even secret). dammit, dad, she kind of hates how well you know her.
nonetheless, she maintains her calm demeanor and outwardly displays none of this inner discomfort. not tonight, not in this dress. ]

Oh.
[Aradia is, nevertheless, going to hop on inside and claim a particularly nice window seat particularly far from Vriska. If Doc Scratch wants to play the unspoken host, she doesn't really see any reason to flounce out on her friends and enemies! Yet.
She almost sits down, then gets back up with a muffled "ouch", picking up what appears to be a Rock-em Sock-em Robot.

[She resists the urge to shake the ball again and instead fiddles with her jewelry and the bow on the front of her dress so that Kanaya can see the shiniest parts--
--oh, look, it's interrupting Aradia. Bad enough that she sounded all cheerful on that last post. Well, maybe not bad, exactly. She's more interesting this way, right? But somehow seeing her this happy just burns Vriska.]
Hey, Aradia! Your dress is stupid and your present from the obnoxious guy is stupid.
[She beams.]

[ she smiles at the eight-ball, completely oblivious to vriska's attempts to get her attention~
oh hey looks it's aradia ]
How are you, Aradia? I think your dress looks splendid!

The die inside it floats up to the window. "You're really swell!"
She doesn't break it.]

[The limo stops at a barber shop somewhere, and Feferi has hopped in, dressed for the occasion in paneled purple. She finds a spongebob squarepants backpack underneath her feet, and hugs it to her chest with a SQUEAK]
Have any of the boys gone aboard yet?

Vriska, whatever is the matter? It certainly wouldn't do to go into this upset, is there any way I can help?
[ yoooo sup feferi asking questions she is for the most part entirely unconcerned with ]
Feferi, that's a lovely dress! But no, it's only us at this point.

I'm great. I'll be even more great when we get to dance! Just you and me, Kanaya. We'll be prom queens. I think that means we get to rule over everyone for a year until the next prom.
[She is totally ignoring Aradia and Feferi! Yup.]

[ kanaya wasn't sure what to make of all this new attention vriska was bringing her direction. it seemed too little, too late, and that made her a little sadder than she'd care to admit.
she wondered if there wasn't something back home that may have inspired it, but the last time she interacted with vriska, she'd only punched her in the face. there certainly couldn't have been anything in THAT to bring about such an effect! ]
