Damian is standing at the punch bowl, and when he sees Charlie approaching he shifts awkwardly. He wasn't exactly seeking her out. In a moment of indecision, deciding whether to scurry away or not, he ended up pausing there for longer than he intended to.

Charlie spots the youngest bat and can't help but grin as she crosses the short distance between them.

"Well," she takes a second, considering his clothing, and then laughs. "You clean up pretty good for a rugbat."

Damian doesn't take kindly to being laughed at, no matter what the intent. So he stiffens even more and just glares at her.

"Better than some people, evidently."

She looked around for a moment. And then she pointed at two girls nearby, one who was gorgeous and one who was a rather less so. Charlie didn't particularly like using an example like this, but she was appealing to Damien and he wasn't exactly nice.

"Let's say you wanted to dance with the pretty girl over there, but she's always with her friend. What would you do?"

Damian isn't sure where Charlie is going with this. He looks at both girls with disinterest, then shrugs.

"Why would I want to dance with either of them?"

He looks pleased with himself, though he's still confused. Charlie never makes sense.

"It's a puzzle, sort of."
