( When she had been younger, Donna was all about sunshine. These days, starry nights were more her thing. Which explains why she's lying out on the grass of Central Park at this hour of night, towards the south end where the old buildings just surround the trees. She was alert enough to notice another presence, however; she was also curious enough to act on that notice. And so she gently lifted off into the air and headed towards those older buildings, eyes scanning in the darkness. )

Or maybe with the fact that it does seem so nice?

( she spreads her hands in a shrug. ) Most things here seem so normal, and then there's us. Strange dichotomy, if you ask me.

Depends on your definition of normal. Place is almost more normal than the city I live in back home. Still doesn't explain a lot of things.

So what is it, exactly, that you want explained?

Not sure yet, haven't decided on that part.

Well, there's your starting point then.

What, everything? Can't really explain everything in one go. [ he just shrugs, again, before sighing almost dejectedly. ]

Guessing some of it'll make sense eventually. The rest? Who knows if it ever will. But that's how it always works.

Complex situations are a bit like a hydra that way. Even if you get some answers, they'll likely just lead to even more questions.

Until there's not even enough of you to go around.

In worst case scenarios, I suppose. Or you can just work with what you have and try not to worry too much about the rest.

I don't know how good I am at not worrying about the rest, but I can work with what i've got. Been doing that for awhile now.

Then I think you're going to be just fine.

Figuring it out as I go usually works.

How 'bout you, how long've you been here?

A month, give or take a few days. I haven't gotten any of those big questions figured out, yet, but I have found a charming place for lunch. So I'll take my victories where I can get them.

Everything looks better after you'd have lunch.
