DURING THE MOVE, OPEN

[ kanaya, for one, had been terribly busy with this move. resuming negotiations after aradia left was only the beginning. now that the actual moving day had come, she was running between rooms, pulling open portals, and doing whatever heavy lifting was necessary for her.

this was a very important job to be done, and it did, after all, fall under her domain, but you could see how it was beginning to wear on her as her glow was getting out of control. ]

[Tavros waited patiently for his turn, his belongings folded tightly and packed into a duffelbag.]

Um. Kanaya, I was thinking. Probably I can walk my stuff over. It would be good exercise.

[ she offers tavros a tired smile ]

Well, of course you'll be mobilizing bipedally. You didn't think I'd planned to carry you, did you?

[ she reels in a portal showing the third floor lounge in the new location ]

Your respiteblock will be the third that will be encountered on the left. Is that the entirety of your belongings? I might've expected more.

No, this is everything. I meant I could walk without the portal... So you can use your energy to send people who really need it.

[He peers at the lounge, wide-eyed as a dappled baby treebeast.]

Well, I've already opened it. It would by no means be a use of my abilities that I would mind undertaking.

[ ohhhhhhhhhh, she sees what's going on, now. the threads for the portal still in one hand, she walks up beside tavros and rubs a hand along his back ]

There's no need to be frightened of it, Tavros. This will be our new home, it will all be perfectly splendid once we finished the relocation process.

[He lets her do this, and smiles a little, but doesn't really relax.]

It just seems weird, to go live with people we don't know, in their home. Although, I guess if some of us know them, it's okay. It does look, uhhhh... more magic than the MAC, and that is kind of fun.

[That really isn't actually it at all. (Well, no, it's part of it, but not a big part.) Tavros's actual reservations stem from very different reasons, ones he hasn't really figured out how to think about comfortably. Regardless, it was happening now, and he couldn't really back out or anything.]

I'll...come find you, I guess, when we are moved. Keeping the portals open for a long time, is probably not a thing you should have to do, so...yes. Thank you, for doing it.

[He sort of awkwardly pats her arm back, and hefts his duffel to head through into the Weasleyhaus.]

Well, i've been given the impression that they're pleasant enough from the small interactions I've had over the course of our negotiations. We'll have more time ahead of us to utilize in order to better make our acquaintance.

[ she waves and smiles as he passes through ]

Very well, I should see you once that occasion arises. But if you lack for anything beforehand, be sure to inform me of it!

Okay. Really, everything is, pretty much, as organized as it could be. It makes it really easy, when it could have just been chaos.

[And suddenly he's somewhere else completely, and waves back at her.]

Well, necessary intervention doesn't require chaos so much as a lack of any kind. I'll see you soon, though I still have some remaining work to be done here.

[ and with that, she gave a wave of her own before releasing the threads and watching the portal fall away into the distance ]

[ Aradia is happy and willing to help in the move, but there is one problem she needs to solve first ]

Kanaya, did I leave things behind when I was here before? I don't even know if I have anything to move!

Oh! Yes, I have in my possession a container of the items you left previously, though I had to guess which belongings were yours and which were Equius', so hopefully I made no mistakes in that.

[ she leads aradia to her own room and starts rummaging through a box she has full of excavation gear, indiana jones posters, a couple of nice hats, and a picture of a horse which she takes out ]

Oh, that was improperly catalogued, my apologies.

[ she rests one of the hats on top of her horns, rummaging through the rest of the box with satisfaction. yep, this all looks to be her kind of stuff! ]

We must have left around the same time, if you had trouble sorting out our things. [ because why else would they be mixed together right.... right....... ]

He'd been exported perhaps a week before you were. I suppose you'd gathered his things upon that occasion.

[ she pulls over another box filled with much the same things, sort his belongings into another box as she looked through it ]

I would imagine we should hold those in a room for him should he return. Likewise for Feferi and Sollux, I would think.

That's probably best. Or I can take them-- or Nepeta would probably want them more. [ not that she wants them IT'S COMPLICATED don't look at me like that ]

Does it happen a lot, people coming and going like that? It doesn't seem very practical!

Perhaps we can set the room aside, and let the two of you decide the fate of the items within for the interim. [ SHE KNOWS ALL ABOUT HOW COMPLICATED IT IS she kinda tried to auspisticize it once whoops ]

It is by no means practical, in fact. I know it occurs from time-to-time throughout the City, but among those we know, I can tell you you're in fact the third to arrive with no memory of your previous visit. Fifth if we include Strider and his sprite among our considerations.

she picks up the box of her stuff, leaving the hat on her head at a jaunty angle ]

That's pretty weird! I guess it keeps people on their toes, but it must be kind of a wrench to deal with. You seem to have things really under control here, though!
