Vic sees the guy enter the room, and can immediately figure he's not a cop. Most of them don't make enough to dress so well. But he's not an informant who Vic's ever met before, so he might as well ask.

"Freelancer?"

"One of the benefits for us, we already know how we work. Powers shouldn't usually change that." Especially when they slip under your radar.

"But you never know, sometimes it's passive, or subtle, or context-specific. Figure only time will tell."

"And yours? Or is it something most consider private?"

"Not really, as it tends to work pretty directly with my profession." He quirked an eyebrow and tapped his temple. "I can find things."

He tried thinking of a good demonstration, and had a question waiting anyway. "Any chance you've got Watson in tow?"

His eyes narrow significantly, but he answers, the baritone voice dropping a little lower.

"John is in city, yes."

"What would you say if I asked whether you keep a photo of him on hand?"

Expecting a negative response, he pulls out his comm and tries to find one himself.

"I don't generally carry around wallet portraits, no." Not that he needed to answer, he could already see Vic shifting through the comm.

His eyes were still narrowed, the ingrained suspicion - (threats and threats) - not easily subsided. The fact that John came up in almost every conversation he had with people who had... knowledge of him...

Well. It was hard not to notice.

"Are you saying you could locate him based simply upon an image? You don't have to have met him in person?" He paused, then, mentally sorting through John's activity on the network. There wouldn't be any images, as he was fairly certain that he had only used text.

Deliberating for a moment, finally he pulled out his comm and pulled out the picture he had taken of John to put up on his import tracking board. Curiosity won over caution.

"You're not likely to find him. Here." He turned the comm up to show Vic.

He hadn't been having any luck yet, just some text entries, so he glanced up at the Sherlock's phone. "Huh. For the most part. I mostly get relative locations, but if I know the City well enough or have a map, I can make an educated guess."

Vic focused on the image and tried to feel it out, then picked up an arm and pointed out to his side. "East-northeast. A little over...two miles. That could be Lafayette, just past Broome?"

Sherlock just watches him carefully, and then pulls back the comm and replaces it. He can't verify the location at the moment, but he notes the time and remembers to ask John about it later.

"I can see how that would be useful."

"In this job? Endlessly so. It's like a huge shortcut half the time, especially in missing persons cases." He even has a special 'Is my imPort friend still in the City' rate!

"Is that what you specialize in, then? Missing Persons?"

"Not the specialty, just something that's gotten easier since I showed up."
