Thundercracker is a mess, and it takes a messed-up person to devote himself to revenge this soon after being freed from prison. Then again, prison has a way of reinforcing the need for it.

Nine million years of being under Starscream's command, obeying his whims, following his orders, listening to his screeching ambition at every turn, doing horrible things to mechs he barely knew in service of some illusory higher purpose that never seemed to materialize. Just horrible things after horrible things. Day in, day out, vorn in, vorn out, teaching himself to derive some kind of sick pleasure from it whenever he could, to try and counteract that sick horror he'd feel deep inside.

The only solace he ever had was his gift of flight, which was taken away from him when he was crushed into a protoplasmic human body in this strange new dimension. That jarring shock, coupled with finding Starscream was HERE as well just drove him into a despair unlike anything he'd allowed himself before - maybe a human mood swing, or maybe everything truly was hopeless. Especially when Starscream's spectral form told him that his destiny was to die at Starscream's hand over one of his shameless power grabs. His future was sealed. Life was to be only misery, guilt, pain and death.

He tried to escape it here, and found happiness, hope, pleasure and life with Blackarachnia, sometimes against her better judgment and her comfortable anger. Against the odds, they found some support in each other and a realization that their lives were not what they wanted. They left. They rebuilt. They were going to start over together, and even though she still held things back from him, he was sure things would work out. But Starscream refused to allow it to happen. He rounded up a horde of Decepticons to ruthlessly and brutally crush them both, killing her and imprisoning him.

The blow was enough to push him back into his hopeless servitude to just wait for his eventual pointless death, although he was brought back from that brink by Liadrin, a woman who seemed to care for his plight, when no one really did before. Her relentless quest to prove to him that life and hope were worth pursuing actually gave him his first sense of feeling... loved. But once he was out of jail, that was shown to be a complete lie in the most obnoxiously and painfully public way.

The last friend he had left to rely on was named Rachel, a woman who suffered from some of the same circumstances he did - a dark past and a life destined to be savaged by an army of bastards out to ruin them. She gave him enough to realize the thru-line between all of his misery was the fact that he's never going to have any kind of hope as long as Starscream exists, and thinks he has the right to shatter Thundercracker's life whenever he damn well pleases.

That all ends today.

Using access passes slipped to him on the sly from Slipstream, who has her own reasons to help out, he's entered the StarWave building, where Starscream runs his ill-gotten industry. His hair tucked under a cap, clad in a janitor's uniform, he's quietly made his way up the many floors to the top of the high-rise tower. Waiting for word from Blackarachnia that her part of the job is completed, and that the time is right to spring the trap.
