three day weekend

This weekend will mark the longest time that Elliot and I have spent together without Ellen. She's going down to Texas to visit Sarah, who moved about a month ago with her family. A three-day weekend as sole caregiver feels a little intimidating, but Elliot and I spent about two days together this summer when Ellen was called away to a funeral, so ( Read more... )

As you maybe know I nanny for 2 families. One has a dad that is pretty shitty at his dad job. The other family has a dad that is more what I assume you are like as a father. That said, I bet you and Elliot will have a GREAT weekend. I'm sure it will have it's difficult points, but you seem to be a pretty present father and you have an AWESOME weekend planned for you and your little dude. Enjoy it! From what I've learned about kids {ages 6 months to 4.5 years} in the last 7 months, I know that as long as you're having a good time and are pleasant with them they are generally easy to please. Have fun!!

Yeah, you're right... it's just, you know, sometimes "only mommy will do." I know Elliot had a good time last night though- he said his chicken nuggets were (and I'm not kidding) "the finest meal ever". I don't know where he gets that stuff sometimes.

I know it's major chick-lit, but have you read The Nanny Diaries? I'm listening to the sequel on audiobook right now and it's bringing back lots of memories of my best friend's crazy nannying jobs.

It's so interesting to hear the "only Mommy will do" thing. I've never experienced that with the kids I sit for {ages 1-4.5} . . . but maybe it's because I'm a girl? I guess I still have some "mommy" qualities that maybe get them to calm down.

I love that he called it the finest meal ever!!! So cute.

I'll have to check out The Nanny Diaries. I haven't read it, but I could use something fluffy during my nanny vacation. Thanks!
