Bioregionalism dzeles December 10 2006, 20:51:33 UTC
I would advocate bioregionalism.

Separation will be necessary if mainland governments continue to over-exploit the island ecosystems and people, as has been done for the past 100 years, or more.

Imagine me pounding my fist on a podium as I shout:

Cape Breton Islanders ought to be making the decisions over what happens to the land upon which they live. When people say "no" to strip mining or clearcutting or oil drilling, because it will poison their community wells, along with all the other environmental consequences, their refusal OUGHT TO BE RESPECTED by the government! But the government does not listen to the voice of the people.

I don't follow the news too much either, but basically, Quebec is it's own Nation within Canada. It's still part of Canada, but it's its own nation within it. Stephen Harper thought of that idea.

I think Harper opened a can of worms declaring Quebec a nation within a nation. Honestly, did he think that everyone would just accept that, and not want it for their own?

Anyway. Pretty sure that if we're declared our own, whatev. We can't be any worse off than we are currently, being continuously overlooked by our PC government.
