Bandwidth!

Jul 10, 2009 01:14

Looks like we went over the bandwidth on the site. I've emailed Robin and Zorro over at slashcity with a frantic plea and paypaled money for more bandwidth and up'd my plan. So we should be good as soon as that kicks in ( Read more... )

As much as I appreciate the work you're putting into this (and I REALLY appreciate it a hell of a lot!), perhaps it might be blog based next year (as in the SPN Big Bang). That would save you baring the burden of all of the coding and harassing people about deadlines. To say nothing of your bandwidth.

Even the blog based ones still have deadlines and its also harder to view art and stories properly with those. And I'm sorry if I've come off as harassing anyone.

They do, but it's more the responsibility of the writers/artists to make it happen.

You do have to break up the stories into entry-sized sections (which is a huge advantage of the website, as I hate multi-tabbing stuff), and find hosting for the art, but it's doable.

I'm in no way suggesting that you aren't capable of doing this. I just hate the amount of stress it's caused you, and wish we could all share the load a bit more.

I'm sorry if I've come off as harassing anyone.
Oh, you haven't. I meant that in jest. You've been great.

I've honestly never come across a big bang where the writers and artists posted things themselves to the official space. I'm not even sure how you would control making sure everything was linked and formated properly unless you had moderated submission set up.

And honestly the coding isn't that hard. The fact I don't have my own laptop is a pain but the biggest problem as been the fics are too big for to edit once their uploaded.

If Bandwidth might still be an issue, you can hotlink off my site.
I've got *oodles*

Given I set my website up to be graphics/user intensive given it was an art site =P

I'm trying to keep it all in one place, but I might have too. Hopefully the increased bandwidth plan and extra bandwidth I just bought will cover it. I'm just waiting to hear back from Robin or Zorro who are both probably asleep right now.

Fair enough. :) I did wonder, once I realised the DW entries weren't locked.
