i was listening to this relient k cd and i decided a few things. so yesterday me and matt were talking, well i guess matt was talking because i don't really talk, and he said that he thinks the meaning of life is to love people. and i think that's wonderful and all, but i don't like how some people are like we should love everyone because i don't ( Read more... )

oh my caroline. first off, congratulations on listening to elliot smith, hes quite the artist, unfortunately he is dead. anyways, a couple of thoughts. i think when i said i thought the meaning of life is to love people i really meant that human relationships were the point of life. you have to love some people to survive and not kill yourself. also, i cannot beleive that you have that opinion on grace. without grace we all would be going to hell (if you beleive in that kind of stuff) and i also cant beleive you think it is unfair that we get forgiven for our sins. if jesus didnt die then we would not be forgiven but he died for our sins and that is why we can be forgiven. thus it is not unfair and the metaphorical "system" you talk about is validated. i know i sound like a total christian retard in this post and all your friends are going to be like look at this retard but whatever. i would not be "christian" if grace was not present, if it wasnt then god would be a tyrannical ruler without love. grace is a product of love. i was ( ... )

haha a total christian retard. oh matt. i know that we can all be forgiven for our sins and everything but some things i do and i know they are wrong and i don't really want to but it's like the 'heat of the moment' and then i just say to myself oh that's ok i'll be forgiven. and that just makes me feel like i'm taking advantage of god. like how so many people say to me "when i'm about to die i'll just ask for forgivness and then i'll go to heaven" i don't like that! it's dumb. and its unfair to god. and that's what i think.

yeah. i know what you mean. but if they truly love god then they would honestly try to live their life for him. god knows their hearts. if they do do stuff they know is wrong their whole life, the whole time planning to just repent before they die, but then the time comes and they really do mean it on their deathbed, well of course they'll be forgiven, i wouldn't quite say they're taking advantage of god, but they are being unfair to themselves and everyone they knew because they know they could've lived a better life. god wouldn't think of them like "you're cheating", he'd be amazingly relieved and happy that they did come to him in the end after all. better the last few seconds than not at all. oh and about the heat of the moment thing, everybody rationalizes their sin like that sometimes. just remember that once god forgives you, forgive yourself, and move on and try for next time. then again i shouldn't really be talking because for a while now i've been doing shit i know is wrong, and not doing anything about it. i'm such a ( ... )
