yeah no problem, just find the part of the codes that says #header { display:; background: #222; color:#888; text-align: left; text-transform: lowercase; letter-spacing:-1px; line-height: 7pt; font-size:9pt; padding: 0px; margin-bottom: 8px;} and change text-align: left; to text-align: center; - that's it! let me know if you have any other questions. ♥
Man, you are such a saint -- I've never ever seen another maker who not only has such beautiful layouts, but is also so extremely willing to help people and field questions. Kudos. :D :D :D
So that said -- as a journal revamp for the new year, I'm customising the hell out of fivepointsfrom (knots). I've got my test journal up at chthonian and I'm still ironing out some issues, but two things I sorta need help with:
• I'd like the size of the subjectlines to be even bigger -- but since livejournal was stupid and made subjectlines into links, the only way I can see to alter the font is to change .a, rather than .subject. Messing with .subject doesn't seem to change anything anymore. :/ Do you know of any way around it? I mean, I'd like to have prominent subjects, but not if it means supermassive hotlinks too. Blergh, LJ.
• In addition to the "read comments/post comment" links, is there any way to add the extra links like "edit/edit tags/memorise/track" to the entries in this layout?
hello! I'm happy to help. sorry it took me a few days to get back to you. :)
yeah the subject permalink stuff is a real hassle, it kind of ruins nice subject lines in my old posts, and I'm way too lazy to go back and fix them, hahaha. BUT, luckily, there is a specific code you can use to customise just those links, and not all the links all together, and it is .subject a, .subject a:link, .subject a:visited {} and .subject a:hover {}. those should do the trick!
as far as adding more links on the actual posts, I really have no idea how to go about this. I know it's in the base codes for Smooth Sailing, and other themes, and that Flexible Squares just doesn't have it, but that doesn't mean it's not possible. I have a feeling it would be something to do with a custom theme layer. you might want to check out s2flexisquares to see if they have any information on it? sorry I can't be of more help!
let me know if you have any other questions and I'll do my best to answer them. 8) ♥
Sweet! The subjects look exactly like I wanted 'em now, thank you! ♥
And also thanks for pointing me to that community; turns out they describe how to do it right here. But I'll have to wait a couple weeks 'til I'm in a more coherent coding mode to tackle that theme layer, I think.
EDIT: Used the wrong icon. I meant that to be much happie! Pfft.
I just installed the "peaches" layout and I love it...but I don't remember how to fix the spacing between entries to a larger default, so all of the icons are unaligned in the shorter entries. Please help!
I'm not exactly sure what you mean. The only thing I can think of is the min-height of the entries, which you can change by finding .entry and changing min-height: 110px; to the height you want, or get rid of it completely.
Though I'm unsure if this is exactly what you are referring to.
....I feel like an idiot for asking about this, but here goes: I want to use the "Rubbish" layout, and while doing so, I'd like to separate the navigation links from the actual link list, just like in the live preview. I've tried many times, but somehow I can't get it right. Halp?
Hahah no problem love, all you have to do is input a "-" as the title of a link to make a blank space in the links list. Let me know if you have any other questions! 8)
