Have you read the Borges story "Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote"? It's about somebody who wants to re-write a novel.

No, I haven't. I look into it. Does the somebody accomplish it?

It's written in the form of an elegy. He died before he finished his rewrite. But there's a twist!
