Considering the brief periods of time he spent wandering to and from the lakeside, Thomas never did learn how to fish. He's seen it done, but it wasn't experienced. The suggestion of fishing by those (including Subala) peaked his interest, however, and while making sure he went through half of his work, the rest of the time was now free.
He made his way down the paths and over the docks, spotting the woman as she rechecked her preparations. "Miss Subala! I hope I'm not late," the young man waved, smiling.
Thomas laughed. "I managed to escape another paper avalanche, so everything should be fine." Another? Well.
He looked over at the dory, tilting his head a little as he glanced back at Subala. "Actually...no, I haven't," he replied softly. "I never left the docks. Solid ground in general, anyway."
"Well, let's get ya out in the boat. If ya end up gettin' queasy, we can come back to shore, but you oughtta see how nice this place looks from the water."
She held up the rods, both bamboo and polished reel. "Which rod you wanna use? Obviously, the reel one is more nifty and professionally done, but the cane one makes ya more sensitive to fish nibbles, and is a little less intimidatin' in terms of working it right."

She stood up from checking over the dory one last time. "So, you ever done this before?"
