CHICKENCAT BUTT

Monkey's been having a weird butt thing where sometimes his anus would turn into Olympus Mons (or a buttular version of Uluru). He's had it on and off for a while, but no doc really ever figured out what it was.

Well, today, I'm getting their wet food ready, and Monkey comes in, all yowling because he is a greedy pig, and I notice his (pardon me) butthole is all red and puffy. It was the reddest I can remember seeing it, and so I got on the phone to the vet straightaway to make an appointment, because now I had something to show the vet and not just a vague "yeah his butt's weird." We were at the vet within the hour (awesome).

Monkey got lucky, they didn't take his temperature. He did not get lucky (for a certain definition of "lucky") in that he got a finger shoved up his butt, rearranging his internal organs. From what I understand, he sometimes strains so hard he turns his butt inside out; essentially, kitty hemorrhoids. I was advised to Tucks him 2-3 times a day, and add fiber to his wet food. There are two types of fiber, and they produce different poops. Try one for a month, and if it's no good, try the other. I am also to keep him from eating Fox's food, because (1) he should eat his fiber food, and (2) Monkey is, like, 14 pounds and as such could stand to drop a couple of pounds, the hog. (Seriously, he'll eat his and them move on to Fox's, as well as eat the dry food.)

So, I get to wipe my cat's butt every day, give him Metamucil, and figure out a way to feed the more finicky one in such a way that Monkey, Mr. Always Up For A Bite To Eat, doesn't eat it. Should be interesting. Not sure how this'll be handled since we're going back to CA for the holidays.

I get to have some teeth filled tomorrow! Hopefully there will also be a mouthguard impression taken, because I understand what he told me last week at the cleaning, about how it isn't the best design for a mouth such as mine, and how it has probably effed up my bite. I am willing to believe this. My faith is in part because this is the first time a hygienist noted I bit my cheeks and tongue, and kept chewing my lip. I mean, they're kind of obvious, but it's nice to know that "yeah, it's not a huge thing, but it's not the way it ideally is." OOOoo and they mostly fixed the bits where floss would get shredded. Hooray!

I just hope I get laughing gas or something, because I really don't want another repeat of "more novacaine, because I can feel what you're doing again." It probably doesn't help I get nervous and monitor how my mouth feels while they work on it, so I will know exactly when something hurts (like I'm hoping it will - all watched-pot and stuff).
