To the Barbican for the mucky exhibition, Seduced. It's very eclectic. The Greek/Roman stuff and the Aubrey Beardsleys I'd seen before but I was less familiar with the stuff from Japan, China and India. It's appalling that after spending 20 years of my life living within 20 miles of Bath and after working there for 2 years of that that I have never been to the actual baths. It always seemed too frightening and I could never work out how to get there. I used to spend a lot of time baiting Americans by explaining that the hordes of Italian school children were direct descendants of the Roman population of Bath and by law were required to speak modern Latin.

You must have missed the south part of the city. It was gutted by bombs in retaliation for Dresden - the lower part of the main shopping area just above the train station is hideous. How they managed to miss wiping out the Royal Crescent and the Circus is a mystery to this day.

The Roman baths are well worth going to, they have a treasure trove of bits and pieces down there. We passed a good couple of hours. Were too scared/skint to go into the actual swimming baths though.
