The point at which I finally thought "this is all fixed" was the season we didn't make 4th. In fact that still looks so dodgy to me I can't believe there hasn't been more of a fuss made. If Serie A and the rest can be found to be bent I see no reason at all why our league isn't, in fact the money that is made all round suggests that it's more sensible to assume it is fixed than it isn't.
Also, non Spurs specific, but makes you think....bascially the so called Big Four in the premiership essentially want to preserve themselves as the big 4 at all costs. Hence groups like the G14 and so on.
What happens when a club breaks into the Top four? Well, Everton did, although, as luck would have it, the monopoly wasn't broken up because Liverpool managed to win the Champions League that year and get the rules amended to ensure they could compete it in next year.
Supporting lower leagues is much more enjoyable football than the gloss of the premiership from my experience of the mighty bradford city's ups and downs. I would encourage you to support orient if you fancy a change of tack, it's not a bad place, though behind brentford in my list of favourite london clubs.
As for fixing, as you suggested, the partizan nature of every fan and the way extremes of luck and human judgement that affect any sport make it very difficult to prove any such behaviour either way, so until I see evidence to the contrary I'll keep an open mind.
