I like the sound of this Mr Simonis! In contrast, the Morocco one was over-optimistic, and a 'beautiful river' turned out to be a tiny stream covered in rubbish, among many such mis-descriptions.

what i know about Florence catsgomiaow July 23 2008, 07:56:33 UTC
Pfft don't listen to what the nasty man says - Florence is gorgeous. If you're up for a spot of walking the Boboli Gardens (sp? we called them the Bobbly Gardens) are super but there are lots of HILLS, which might not be so great if the weather's boiling. The view from the top of the fort is awesome though. Oh, and they don't tend to let you take wine in there for picnics :( Walking along the river at night and seeing the Ponte Vecchio etc is LOVELY, if a bit touristy. If you're intending to go to the Accademia or Uffizi galleries DEAR LORD book a timed ticket in advance - the queues are horrendous. We got advance tickets from http://en.firenze.waf.it/ .
