Enjoyed Black Plastic on Saturday; I recognised practically nothing of Jo's set, but the stuff with guitars sounded like early Spandau and the stuff without guitars sounded like early Human League. I think Italo is more early Sam Fox than early Human League but as it's not really my thing, I could be wrong.

Glad you had a good time - setlists should be up this week if we haven't left the notepad at the venue. I think I only played one Italodisco tune (Moskow Diskow by Telex) IIRC.

Italo is a pretty broad brush, but it's normally manufactured pop sounding electronic songs aimed squarely at the clubs. Slick pop music with banal lyrics that was all probably written in five minutes but sounds no worse for it. As the chap above said, more Sam Fox than Human League.

For ages I've been wanting to write a song called Italo Calvino Disco, but been held back by having nothing much to say about either Italo Calvino or Disco. Maybe banal lyrics written in 5 minutes are the way forward.
