I totally agree with most of that. I'm not sure about not telling him about 'The End' - why should he tell Sam that? I mean Sam was paranoid enough about it all - demon blood/lucifer's vessel etc - he probably didn't need to tell Sam in one future Sam did end the world. It would've been a little like Sam telling Dean about the hunting machine he became in Mystery Spot. I don't so much see those things as a secret - rather as knowledge that just doesn't need to be shared because all it will do is cause pain. No? Yes

I agree, Cappy. Dean's kept secrets as often as Sam has, and sometimes for much the same reasons.
Their whole lives have been built around secrecy, misdirection and false or missing information, not just as hunters but as Winchesters. It's sad that it spills over into their interaction with each other. But there have been times when their fear of what their brother would do/say/think upon knowing the truth has overruled their need to come clean and 'fess all. So they keep their secrets...but the truth will out, as someone once said.
And it always ends badly. I'm with saltandburnboys - I'm dreading the explosion from this one. Especially after that beautiful scene between the boys in the church when Dean got Sam to stop the trials. I fear this latest secret will pull the rug from beneath both brothers' feet.
And you can see already what it's costing Dean - the secret, and the decision to take the action he did. This is gunna get messy...*bites nails*
