[ Dream 006 ]

[Resent alone filters this away from his awful original. Goes after this. 8Db]

He is twelve, but the number is only technical. This is his first day in this room, in these clothes, with this name; with this life he inherited. He doesn't mind. He wants to be useful. He is glad they think he is. He's a replica. This was why he was born. He doesn't ( Read more... )

[He really had to think twice before calling... The person who had this dream had the same name and same face as that boy he had very surprisingly lost his temper with the previous day... However, based on what he had said, he was starting to get a good feeling who this boy actually was. However he could also be wrong. Maybe there were multiple "Ions" from different worlds.]

I apologize for the intrusion...
You're name is Ion, correct? [He paused for a second, trying to find the right words.] Would you happen to be of relation to another boy who shares your name?

No, not at all!

And... yes, my name is Ion. I realize that's probably somewhat confusing, as you may have already "met" me. The other Ion, who died when he was twelve, was replicated so no one would know he even died.

I was the replacement.

I know for certain now that the resemblance is only skin-deep.

[... There was no doubt that the resemblance was only skin-deep whatsoever. His entire demeanor already seemed completely different... The original Ion had already explained replication to him, and his own disgust at how he seemed to treat his "replicas" was what started their argument. He smiled in relief.]

I can definitely see that. Yes, I did meet the "other" Ion. He actually told me a bit about you...

[He felt he shouldn't say in what way though. The original Ion had been quite harsh when talking about his "replacements"... It was really a relief that one of them was allowed to live.]

Ah...

[He can only hope that was a more positive experience for this guy than it had been for him.]

His viewpoints are certainly not what I'm used to. I don't suppose anything he said about me was good, either. I can't say he seems to like me.

[Well this is odd; Asch could imagine that Ion would have a lot on his mind, but...]

Fon Master... are you all right?

[[Oh, totally. He wouldn't know how to deal with him right now.]] caprice_of_song March 30 2009, 20:46:59 UTC
I'll be alright. I was just a little shocked to find out exactly whom I was replicated from, that's all.

Thank you for your concern, Asch.

Whom you were replicated from...?

You don't mean...

Yes...

As confusing as that will probably end up being, my original is here now as well--his self from just prior to his death, of course.

It probably sounds strange, doesn't it?

[slightly startled out of her reverie] Ah!

Well, not too strange... cloning isn't unheard of where I'm from.

Cloning?

I've never heard that particular term before, actually; we called it 'replication' where I come from.

...Is it common at all?
