My internet won't be getting installed until almost mid-January, so I'd better get this post in now.
2016 has been a pretty up and down year for me personally. I hope 2017 is a better year for everyone (and the whole world, pretty much!).
To close it off, I read a couple of pretty terrible books this month.
Breed by Chase Novak
I saw this (and its sequel, below) at the library and thought it was interesting enough to pick up. I was wrong. It is a horror book, which isn't usually my genre of choice. The first...maybe fifth of the book was somewhat interesting and even humourous at times, but it drops off after that. The rest of it was a lot of tell-not-show, and not even that scary. It had a lot of hinting and not much pay off.
Brood by Chase Novak
The sequel is even worse. I'm not even sure if I can say I read this, as I skipped at least half of it. I skimmed most of it, and the characters from the first book were none of the interesting ones, sadly. A lot of it didn't make much sense, and the ending was pretty disappointing.
Chase Novak is apparently the pen name of Scott Spencer, which they tell you right on the dust jacket. I guess I don't understand the point of having a pen name and then telling you right away who it 'really' is, unless it was a publishing decision?
Here's to good books in 2017!
