project: birthday bandwagon
Just as we’ve done the past two years, we’re happy to announce that capslock_turtle will be hosting another special event for Kame’s 28th birthday. The prior years we’ve hosted a fic exchange and a big bang challenge but we’ve thought up something different for 2014.
With the aim of increasing participation and Kame-flavoured merriment, we’re excited to roll forth the

How it all works:
Think of it as a Kame wish list. A few days from now, a Requests Post will open and remain open until Kame’s birthday (or longer, depending on how active we are). During those months, anyone is free to request anything in relation to Kame. Fics, fanart, graphics, icons, translations, videos, uploads-anything. Let the post be a giant turtle-shaped stocking that you stuff with all your Kamenashi wishes~
And anyone is allowed to claim any request. People can provide as many prompts as they like and claim as many as they like. Multiple people can claim a prompt if they want, even.
Ex)
prompt: I want kame getting glomped by a litter of puppies
claim #1: got it! will drabble it
claim #2: ooooh I have an idea. not sure how long it'll be but I promise smth
claim #3: totally making icons with this theme
claim #4: OHHH i like kame and i like puppies. maybe i'll do something not quite related but it'll have puppies either way!!!
See how it works? The request can be as detailed or as simple as you like-just keep in mind that the more difficult it is, the less chances of it being fulfilled.
While it is not mandatory that someone who drops a wish also has to fulfill one, this will only work if fans get together and work both ways. So, if you see a request you can manage, please give it a go! Four months is a long time to keep track of and we don’t expect everyone to remember the ongoing wish list, hence we’ll be posting reminders every now and then. :Dv
More about the claiming: there’s no rule about the length or format. You can spin a request into a drabble or a 10k fic just as long as you live up to your claim and submit your gift by the deadline. There are no real requirements to fill-just the scope of the request but depending on how detailed it is, you can choose to cover only a part of it (see claim example #4)-so it's all up to the individual. The prompts and requests are there to motivate and stir up muses. The same goes for any other type of fanwork.
Now, with that said, there are a few rules.
Rules: there are only two so get it right, folks
1) If you claim a prompt, you have to bring something to the table by the end of the posting period on March 2 (or fresh tomatoes will be coming your way**).
For example, say if you promise a fic or icon set and find that you don't have the time later on, you can always do something less heavy like a drabble or banner/gif/etc. Key word is that you have to bring something to the table.
** If for some reason you are unable to fulfill your claim at all, you have to email us and let us know-otherwise you will be added to the Fresh Tomato List (defined as a list of people who had signed up but dropped out without any concrete reason and will thus be subjected to virtual tomatoes). Be forewarned that we will be tracking the people who have claimed and the list of no-shows will be posted once the posting period ends. Hopefully this will encourage people to take responsibility since we MODs will not be chasing anyone down this time.
2) You cannot post before Kame's birthday on Feb 23rd. Get a dozen gifts ready as soon as November, if you like, but save the spoilage for February. Build up the birthday excitement and splurge on the Kame loving when the time is ripe. (∩˃o˂∩)♡
Since people will be claiming with their own accounts, there is no anonymity involved. Feel free to share your ideas with friends or discuss the details with your prompter-just save the completed gift for February.
Of course, if you’d like to go anon and surprise someone, you can always nudge one of us MODs via PM and we’ll pseudo claim a request in your stead.
There’s still quite a bit of time left until the posting period but we’ll explain it all here too, just so you know what to expect.
The posting period will last from Feb. 23 - March 2. An entire week of free for all posting with concentrated Kame goodness mmmm. (人•ᴗ•♡)
You can post whatever, whenever, however-just please use an LJ cut. You may post directly to the comm or include a link to another posting platform such as dreamwidth, deviantart, tumblr etc. All we advise is that you be smart about it and choose a platform that is easily accessible (aka doesn’t require membership) and has longevity. We do require that you post an additional heads-up comment as a reply to the original prompt though; like a 'hey, I fulfilled your prompt, the link is here so you can check it out!' ;D
Since the posting period is a week long, it is possible to claim requests within that week. We trust that people who claim prompts last minute know the pressure of the deadline they're under so it's their call-they know their own capabilities.
