While I haven't seen the last episode yet (waiting for the subs), I thought it was a much better drama than I was expecting it to be when I first heard about it. A couple of thoughts to start with:

- Kame speaking German and English was so cute

- Fukada's acting was very stiff to begin with but I think she got better as the story went along.

- I wish they hadn't made so many of the side characters quite so cray cray (the mum, the affair guy, the ex girlfriend, the students). It was a little OTT at times. The other lady teacher and the dockworkers seemed like the only normal people.

Someone with better fanvid making skills than me needs to put the scene where he's dancing on the docks in front of his co-workers to the Flashdance song (What a Feeling?) - I swear that's all I could think about during that scene

Here, have a big whopping

MTE

Fukada's acting did improve with time and I wonder if that had to do with her character or her own boundaries as an actress? Like in the first episode during the first kiss, Yui was really, really stiff and passive:

Fukada isn't really a great actress I don't think (although admittedly I haven't seen her in anything else to judge fully), but her character does start off with no real agency of her own - she has no ambition, her mom and her lover both control her to a degree. She's restricted, so that does explain her stiffness.

I'm kind of glad she told Kei that she wasn't just going to go traipsing around the world with him, because that wasn't who she was - it was a nice little power moment for her where she's realising who she is and not just playing into whatever everyone else wants her to be.

but the ex girlfriend. Man, that was a disappointment.

I know. She seemed so nice in the first ep and I was all ready to sympathise with her unrequited feelings and then...crazy. I'm a bit surprised they made her an ex-girlfriend too and not just a friend - it wasn't really needed, her motivations would have been the same either way.

just showing my age I think

Agree with all of this. And not just the random side characters, i think the entired plot flow was a bit....illogical? But i love Kame in romance things and we have beautiful dancing Kei so I muchly welcome it every weekend :)

My friendlist during Second Love was literately splitted into 2 teams: Team Against and Team Approve of the mountain of bed scenes Kei has pulled thorough the drama (yet the very last ep has no bed scenes if i recall correctly?). I was quite lonely in the Approve team though. I love seeing him in a more mature role and I love drooling over his sexy naked body. However, i think it's due to the fact he is a Johnny that they limited certain intimidating actings. Like the way Fukuda never really touched his body though she was admired it clearly and who ever denied a sexy K in bed??? There was a blanket between them and how on earth K was so actively pushed her to bed only to end up being bottom? I wished they did some grindings to make it less fake. And no, i watched Villain the movie featuring Tsumabuki, if you said the stiff sex scenes were because Japanese ppl liked things a bit well-reserved and this stiffness was normal in Japanese dramas/movies then no, you wouldn't convince me.
A friend of mine did explain about the being bottom ( ... )

I loved watching Second Love, mainly because of Kei's dancing, his naked back, beautiful smooth hair, I could go on and on. I must confess that I love Kame in any role, he always tries his best, you could tell he worked hard in his dancing, English and German. I was also irritated by Fukada's acting, although it did get better, I even felt sorry for her in episode 5 ( ... )
