Oh my god seriously. That's exactly it. I mean, for people whose lives revolve around celebrities (sad little people that they are) I can understand following one...but random strangers? Eesh.
anyway...I guess that's how internet-famous gets blown out of proportion. I'd be afraid of anyone I didn't know following me, it would remind me of being "famous" and asked for my autograph back when I was in radio. Creeped me the hell out then, still does now.
I'm not a fan of Twitter. I got over it really quickly. As for Facebook, it was a way to keep in contact with people I moved away from who didn't have LJs, etc, but then I... lost interest in that, too.
I also left Facebook because of the people on it. I was someone who, if I remembered, would maybe check it every other day and skim. I didn't add people I couldn't remember or like, long-lost family members. We don't talk to my father's side of the family and people I had never met were requesting that I add them -- some even leaving nasty messages because I didn't. And it was like lmfao I haven't even checked my Facebook for two weeks? It wasn't you (er, it was, but...), it was me not being active on it. I also have a creepy stalker grandfather that would bring up things I'd say to people months earlier and things like that
( ... )
BB that's not good for you. ;_; if I was nearer to everybody I'd go Sanji on all of you and cook for you.
Grah I know, the one thing that really bugs me is bands and stuff using Facebook as a substitute for official sites. I didn't hear that my favoritest band in the whole world, The Echoing Green, was in Milwaukee, until literally the moment they were on stage and I was an hour away in Madtown under a tornado warning. My friend who told me was all "oh it was all over Facebook." I wanted to kick them.
gfkjahjkahd although the whole getting mad at you for not responding or friending reminds me of the South Park episode. SO TRUE.
Twitter can rot in the the depths of hell. I'm only on Facebook because so many people I communicate with on a regular basis are and it helps me keep up. If I didn't need that, I probably wouldn't bother with it.
Though, I did consider joining Twitter while watching the Irene coverage this weekend. I kinda wanted to Tweet "Aliens make first contact in WI. Apologies made to visitors for lack of coverage due to #Irene."
I'm resisting getting a business page for SLC until the very last minute...since I rarely have anything to update. I also kind of don't like that you can't use a net handle - it's all real names. I don't like having my real name out there except for when dealing directly with customers who are paying me.

Funny you should ask! I just had a chicken sandwich, cooked myself with Jamaican spices, and bacon and cheese. It was delightful.
