Sadly I think most criminas are too stupid to realize or understand what the 30.06 signs mean. I really wish they did, because then it'd be a major incentive for businesses not to display that.

Personally, I'd be damn tempted to ignore a 30.06 sign that didn't meet specs, because should I have need to use a firearm I'd likely be able to defend it. I'd absolutely ignore non-30.06 signs.

I wonder if it'd be worth pointing out to owners that a 30.06 sign is an open invitation for criminals...

Head in sand syndrome

I thank South Park for bringing to light the "head in sand" scenario, that so many people are trying to emulate. The business owners don't WANT to think about the open invitation, so therefore, they think it doesn't exist. Legally, I could ignore the incorrect sign, but the Grand Jury (if I was to prevent a murder or robbery on the premises) will be made up of citizens chosen by the lawyers. My faith in a true jury of my peers has been shaken.

Certain cities had shops that displayed "Gun Free Zone" signs for a while. Then the robberies started. Even these folk were smart enough to see the problem for what it was.

Guns will NEVER disappear, however, the availability of them to law-abiding citizens seems to be waning.
