[RL WITH MITSURU--FORWARD 1 DAY]

Jack had actually slept at night, which was a feat in itself, considering that he hadn't been particularly busy, or busy that night, for that matter. Well, not really. They were sent off on a wild goose chase across the city hunting the resident alien, the Weevils, and since he hadn't let Akihiko come with them yet, it had been just Gwen and ( Read more... )

The first thing Mitsuru noticed was that she was incredibly uncomfortable. She was used to her expensive, top of the line mattress, and a cot in a bunker was a notable difference. She frowned, still half asleep, and tried to remember what had woken her up-- had someone been talking to her?

She opened her eyes halfway, and then they snapped open as she went from confusion to confused, furious shock. Not only was this not her bed, there was a strange man in it-- she jumped up and leapt out of bed, and ended up falling to the floor in disorientation at the different distance to the floor than she had expected.

"Who are you?" she demanded, curling her knees up to her and yanking down the hem of her nightgown as far as it would go.

There really wasn't much more room for theatrics in Jack's little cubby hole, so he sincerely hoped that the person--she, now that he'd gotten a good look at her--wouldn't get hurt, flailing around as much as she was.

Jack pushed himself up with a sigh, moving to sit cross-legged on the cot. "Whoa, there," he said, holding his hands up in front of him, "easy. You're the one who just suddenly shows up here, why don't you answer the question first?"

"I have no idea," she retorted icily, standing back up. "I woke up, and I was here." She glanced around the room; there was nothing to give any indication of where she was. Some sort of military base, perhaps?

And on top of all this, she was starting to feel a bit queasy, as well. She put it down to the stress of the moment.

Jack shook his head. "Nope, not a good answer. See, you shouldn't be in here, not unless someone let you in. And seeing as how I don't know who you are, it wouldn't have been me. I mean, I'm pretty good, but I'm not that good. People have to remember me the next day, and I them, or else where's the fun in that? Well..." he trailed off for a second, thinking about it. "No, definitely less fun."

"Anyway, it can't have been Retcon, there isn't that certain amnesia feel to the situation," he said, giving himself a mental once-over. Truth be told, he was feeling a bit green, but sometimes that happened if he slept, or got tired. Spacial temporal anomalies weren't supposed to get or need down time, apparently.
