Waking up is hard to do...

Jul 23, 2011 19:46

He'd been awake for just over 36 hours now. The SHIELD doctors were telling him to sleep, but every time he laid down to rest, Steve's dreams were filled with ice and falling...and Peggy's voice saying "You're late" over and over. The War was long over, and several others had passed as well, and Steve had no idea what anyone was talking about half ( Read more... )

Steve glanced up from his book at his new guest, then blinked, opened his mouth a bit, then blinked again, looking confused. Then his brain caught back up and he glanced back down to the book he'd been reading. "You must be Tony Stark," he said as he stood and walked over, offering his hand.

Glancing down at the small device...that 'cellular phone'...Steve grimaced at the picture of the old costumes and the girls. "Oh..um, they weren't my idea."

Remembering that ridiculous white room made Steve scowl and shake his head a bit in disapproval as he turned to sit back down on his bed, motioning for Tony to join him. "I only new him for a few years..." he said, then looked at the book and shrugged a bit. "I guess I just wanted to know that someone's life got better after the War. It's...well it's really impressive, but I'm sure you'd know all about that."

Steve just laughed a little, "He meant the cheese fondue, but I had no idea what it was..." He can't help but start to giggle as he leaned in, "I can't believe this now...but I thought it meant...you know...'getting to know a dame' y'know?" He couldn't bring himself to say anything ruder than that. "I'd love to try some actual fondue, Tony, it sounds fun. And I don't mind Coulson, he's a good guy...a little tightly wound, but still."

He blinked at that, then scowled, looking away to mutter, "I knew he was trying to get in her pants!" Then Steve sighed because what was the point of being jealous now? In fact, the more he thought about it, the more he just laughed a bit, because at the end of it, he'd known that Peggy felt the same about him as he had felt for her. He finished his meal and looked around again before his attention settled back on Tony.

"Anything else you'd like to know?"

Steve just looked touched "Tony, I can't take your father's bike from you." He walked back over, shaking his head a bit, "That's just too much. And I really don't want to overstay my welcome here."

"Tony..." he felt the need to argue that, "I only knew him for about 3 years when he was a kid, war makes people act differently..." Finally he sighs and gives up on that topic, "Sure, I'll stay one night since it makes you happy."

He follows upstairs, looking over the expansive living room. "Wow...this is...luxurious...and we'll watch whatever you want to." Steve flops down onto the sofa, then groans in comfort before remembering himself and looking a little embarrassed.
