Moral hypotheticals: My friend the burglar

Inspired by recent news of the "missing canoeist", I wound up asking myself an interesting moral question; what would I do if a friend/family member/other loved one committed a crime, and I came to have knowledge of it? I think my position broadly agrees but is more succinct: if someone does something illegal that I disapprove of, I will try to dissuade them, impart remorse, get them to make amends, etc. myself if safe, practical and reasonably likely to succeed. Failing that, I go to the police if the crime is sufficiently serious to be worth it.

A good friend will help you clean a house. A *really* good friend will help you hide a body.

I'd seriously consider it for my best friends, depending on the situation.
