I finally watched Monday's episode, after forgetting about it.
Apparently, the abbreviated ending was due to the writer's strike. If what I read is correct, this is the end of the season. The whole thing alternated wildly between good and .. not good. To say I felt the whole thing was rushed madly is an understatement. The rushing really killed the storylines for me. They hardly introduced Adam Monroe and suddenly Hiro has shoved him into a coffin? argh.
And compare the actions of Hiro here with earlier and the changes are dramatic. He's much more like the cynical future Hiro now. It's hard to imagine naive Hiro from season one doing that to a human. I'm not saying that it doesn't make sense given his history with Adam and the whole 'killing his father' thing. It was the one thing I felt was rushed beyond anything else that night. It really is a truly horrible torture to put a near-immortal through.
I'm very disappointed in Nathan's apparent death. I guess the writers just couldn't figure out what to do with a politician who, after winning, doesn't take office. Personally, it would have been interesting to me if he'd gone a business route, perhaps setting up an anti-Company company. Ah well.
I don't dislike Nikki the way some dislike her. I was surprised at the utter lack of any feeling I had with the fire and almost certainly NON death.
I like Zachary Quinto, and Sylar is one of the creepiest villains I've seen in a while. Still, he's a psycho without moral ambiguity like Linderman or Adam Monroe. I also find myself a bit disappointed that he's already back and we'll be dealing with a clash of the Titans again.
The way the whole Caitlin/Irish thing fizzled .. oh .. yeesh, I could go on and on. I think most of my distaste is the way things just crashed to a halt.
I'll keep watching. I'm not that upset with the show.
