Saw Star Wars in 3D today.  I have to say, unfortunately Star Wars will always be able to get money out of me.  I regret nothing.

But I do have to say that while the 3D was fun for the most part, the things that translate the best are space battles and while I'm pretty sure they're doing all the Star Wars movies, I REALLY can't wait for the original ( Read more... )

I tend to avoid the whole Star Wars hype... but I might just have to see the original trilogy in 3D. I am a geek after all, even if it's not my fandom. :)

Star Wars was my first fandom. The first movie I knew how to put in the VCR was A New Hope (we didn't even own Empire and ROTJ, I didn't see those until later). I never got into the Clone Wars stuff, even though I had always wanted to see it since it was mentioned in A New Hope, but I do stand by all things Jedi :) I still have my padawan braid. It'll never not be a part of my life even if I'm not involved in any online fandom activity with it at all (and probably happier that way..).

I definitely think that even if it's not your fandom, seeing the original trilogy in 3D will be worth it. Episode 1 is poor as far as epic space battles goes, there's like.. half of one. But that half of one was amazing. I also think that live action is going to translate better into 3D than CGI and the prequels are so CGI-ed that sometimes they still look flat. The original trilogy is going to be amazing, plus just the chance to see it in the theatre!

My first fandom was probably Star Trek. I got my values from it right alongside Sesame Street, beginning somewhere around the age of 2. Thank goodness for syndication, and the fact that Mum had liked it so much when it was originally on!

I know enough fellow geeks around here that getting someone to go with me shouldn't be too hard, so long as they have the time. :)

Yeah, my parents started me early on Star Trek too :D They have a bunch of old episode VHS tapes.

Oh definitely. I'd go with you if I was there!

Aw, I miss Star Wars terribly. Qui-Gon Jinn will always be my favorite and I will always love him best. I know it isn't ~cool~ to love the PT, but they're such a huge part of who I am as a writer today (thank you, Master Jess) that my adoration for them will endure.

Me too. This exactly. I mean I was 12 when Episode 1 came out and just.. yeah. The PT still makes me go :| a lot but overall, I still love it. I just really love how much the Jedi were expanded. That's the best part.
