1) my AP english teacher, ms steffanelli, was awesome because she was insane. ok she wasn't insane but she was very eccentric. she also had very high standards for us, but would also give us juice boxes. she was very dramatic and seemed passionate about -everything-

she also made us act out shakespeare instead of read it, which i thought was rad.

i <3 her. i should look her up, she was my favorite ever.

re: journals

sex! music! politics!

i'd try to have topics either weekly or daily, so as to avoid 'today i went to school, it sucked'

I ran across your blog in the infinite web of blogs (we're connected by about 4 journals!) And as an aspiring English teacher, I feel compelled to give my input.

1. My favorite teacher was my journalism teacher my sophomore year in hs. She was my favorite because she was down-to-earth and yet still fabulously knowledgable. I think the best classes are the ones with more hands-on interaction than actual book work. (Of course this is all probably obvious)...

2. Because I want to teach creative writing at a secondary level my mind is brewing with creative writing and journaling ideas. Something fabulous to do with students is give them one sentence to write and then pass the paper about to their peers until they have a story-- then talk about the parts of the story. I don't know if that makes sense via the computer.. but I thought I would share... if you try it let me know how it goes. :)
