Can someone stop by my room and check on my dog? Maybe even take care of him for a few days? Or a week?

[Private to Martha]

I don't know if you're the right person to ask about this, but how do you go about really dealing with PTSD? I've come to discover that Starfleet's overview of it is really shit and not helpful at all.

Shego was trying not to talk, because whatever she said would be laden with embittered sarcasm and she didn't feel like starting a fight until she had access to something heavy enough to knock him out with. By this point she had barely slept for the previously seventy-two hours and there were black shadows under her eyes like she'd been recently punched.

Her room - the one from Drakken's lair, visibly dug out of a mountain - wasn't really designed for two people. She had a double bed, but the couch was more made for style than comfort and it was only really good for sitting very straight on. Shego sat down heavily on the edge of her bed and nudged off her shoes.

"Yeah," she said finally, because she didn't feel like saying anything else.

Well, Kirk could sleep on the floor. It wouldn't be the first time. Or a smart man would go get the Starfleet issued sleeping bag in his closet next door, which maybe Kirk would think of doing later when it came to actually sleep.

"How are you feeling? Do you need anything?"

"Tired. No." She could feel herself sliding into the 'submissive robot' mode she'd used to distance herself from her feelings after the mirror flood. It had worked, after all: eventually she'd gotten better. And right now she felt all burnt out on attitude and yelling.

Kirk grabbed the chair from her vanity and dragged it over to the side of her bed, sitting down on it and eyeing her for a moment. He wasn't okay with 'submissive robot' mode, though he'd probably be able to make his peace with 'brooding, sad Inmate' for a while.

"So let's talk. Why are you thinking right now? And no attitude, please."

I can check on him. ...Why do you need someone to take care of him?

[HE'S NOT LEAVING. JUST STALKING SHEGO, NO BIG]

Thank you, Cissie.

I'm just going to be spending a few days with Shego in her room and she's not a huge fan of dogs.

[OH. WELL. THAT'S OKAY THEN.]

Oh, okay. Yeah, no problem. I can watch him for you.

Thanks again.

Umm.. I haven't been up there in a few days, so there... might be some surprises.

In my experience, the best thing that she can do is talk about it with Libby or someone; someone who has experience with this sort of thing.

I don't think she wants to talk to Libby, or Crane. Is there anyone else on your staff that could be helpful?

I could try, but I'm not as well trained as Libby. I have done the PTSD thing, though.

How did you deal with it? If you don't mind me asking.
