Well, since my roommate who was allergic to dogs moved out I have been on the hunt, prowling the local dog pound, classifieds, and the free dog board at Pet Supplies Plus. Last week I thought I found her, a cute-as-hell half yellow lab half either Spitz or Samayd. I brought her home and spent the next several days solid trying to house train her

So glad to hear about the future dog. When we got our dog, Ginger, from the SPCA, I wasn't a big dog fan - I was always a cat person. Gingy quickly changed my mind. Having a dog can be so wonderful. I'll put a vote in for going to the pound, SPCA, or humane society and finding a cute puppy mutt from there. The only problem with mutts is that its a little harder to guess their full size. Keep us updated, and with pictures once you've chosen!

Yes, I prefer to get a dog from the pound as well if I can find one there. Almost all the dogs I've ever had have been rescues of one sort or another.

Sorry to hear that the other pup didn't work out.

Good luck finding a great friend... most of my dogs have either come from the pound or were animals people give to me. Mutts make the best pets.
