My flame-haired siren, allow this poor picaroon to beg your forgiveness. I had no desire to imply that ye, as an undoubted member of the fairer sex, are so precluded from setting foot on my ship. On the contrary -- though you be too fair indeed for the likes of my loutish crew, I would welcome you aboard, and as nothing less than my own honored guest.
What say you, then, to a private tour of my maritime quarters? If nothing else, it may afford you an entirely fresh perspective on the sea.
Oh, Captain, yes. Yes, a thousand times yes. I've...been having a bit of a rough time of it lately and would welcome any attention you wish to bestow. I hear the ocean is quite soothing, as well. It would be moreso, I believe, with you as my guide.
It doesn't matter how coarse and calloused she gets, how grandly she swaggers and swears with the rest of the crew; she remains but a potential dalliance, and there will always be some impatient fellow sniffing after her tail between ports. Pirate crews tend to be a right quarrelsome lot as it is, and a woman in their midst soon becomes only one more piece of booty to lay claims to. And that is an annoyance their captain would certainly rather do without.
I can well understand your hesitation to have women amongst your crew, Captain. I was a member of a ship's crew, and indeed, it was a distraction. Although, the reasoning behind the tension on board the Centurion was not quite for the same reasons as you cite.

True enough. I like to think that they're all above average! I'll be sure to pass along your kind thoughts to them.

Don't trouble yourself, Jack. I mean to pay all my compliments to your crew in person, and right soon.

Pity.
A damnable pity, at that.
I've only seen the ocean once, and it wasn't under circumstances I'd care to repeat.
