While out on my 6am walk I saw a spider the size of a quarter hanging in its web at face height on a tree. I tried to photograph it to amuse riffalike but I scared it and it hid before I got a good shot.
I remember a quarter size orange-cream-with-black-spots spider built a huge orb on my mother's porch. Freaked her out and she tried to destroy it twice, but I sat there and fed it insects and watched it wrap them up. Her, actually, as she made an egg sack.
