Have you ever watched "The Gods Must be Crazy"? It is a movie about an African tribesman that gets hit on the head by a Coke bottle that was thrown out of a bush plane. None of his tribe have any idea what the item is but they figure it must have been accidentily dropped by the gods and they feel that it must be returned to the gods to avoid their wrath. Your giraffe story reminded me of that movie
