Just for the record, tetras belong to the fish family Characin while barbs belong to family Ciprinidae. Tetras have a small adipose fin located between their dorsal (back) fin and caudal (tail) fin. Barbs have little barbs(whiskers) which can be hard to see on certain specimens and absent altogether on others. Most tetra species come from South America, however a couple are from African rivers. Barbs tend to come from Eastern Asia, however, there are also African barbs as well.
