Farewell Mike's Marine

May 16, 2004 09:30

In many ways, this is the final episode of one of the greatest tv sitcom scripts that was never written, and only viewed by actors who played the emmy worthy parts. Its hard to understand why I loved it there so much and stayed as long as I did. My college friends would always laugh when I told them that I worked for a marine store. They thought it ( Read more... )

thank you so much for everything, you've always been a mentor to me (you know that). I'll miss seeing you everyday, so don't stay away, alright?

also, I think its hard for those who haven't been sucked into the blackhole to understand our attachment to that damn store, its such a big effing part of us, and thats just weird.

i love you much, thanks again.

You know you can count on me for anything. Even though I'm not at Mike's, I'll be there in spirit. Think of me each time you guys get taco bell. We all leave a little piece of ourselves in that "black hole", and I don't necessarily think its a bad thing. Always leave things better than you found them.

Oh Eric, I'll miss seeing you this summer too! It's funny how all of us have/had our own roles at the store and how they all worked out to create a big family. I must admit I had tears in my eyes while I was reading this.
I agree it is like a second home and I do miss punching in and being able to work with funny, hardworking, sincere people who made the crazy summer days and slow winter ones more enjoyable. I loved the long summer days when it seemed like all of us were there running around with our heads cut off, but we still managed to have fun. Some of my favorite times were the ones when I got to sit down and eat with "the boys."
I know my Dad will miss you being around too!
It was nice seeing you last weekend and I wish you all the best. Your drive and determination will take you far.

I'll miss your dad too. I love his casual attitude about everything. Perhaps if I am able to make enough money and buy a bike, i'll call him up and go for a ride with him sometime. I hope you enjoy your summer at MSU. Don't be a stranger. You and Austin will have to come out for one of my parties sometime!

saying goodbye to a long-term position & great coworkers is one of the most unexpectedly bittersweet moments in life.

The whole point of what I wrote about you was to show what I thought of you at first, and what you have become since I've known you; someone who deserves people's respect for what you know. I'll bring you some Ice Cappucino wednesday morning. The other guys will listen to you eventually and realise how much you can help them in return. Don't stress about it. Wine night this week. Don't hoe me out. lol. You'll always be the one and only MMP.
